Vivo Partners With Season Two of Astro’s Big Stage

Kuala Lumpur, 7 August 2019 – Vivo Malaysia is the official main sponsor of season two of Astro’s Big Stage (Big Stage 2019) featuring official brand ambassador Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza as the main judge along with Indonesian singers, Judika and Cakra Khan.

The Big Stage 2019 program is a reality-themed singing competition featuring young millennials considered to be the “new kids on the block” in the music industry. In keeping with its original concept, Big Stage 2019 is an open competition for domestic and international stars including Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand and South Korea.

CEO of Vivo Malaysia, Mike Xu, said “This is our second year supporting Astro’s Big Stage and as Malaysia’s most loved smartphone brand, we are committed to supporting platforms where new artists can be given the opportunity to shine and unlock their potential. The second season will also see intense competition between the 12 up and coming stars, comprising six male and female stars each on the main stage for eight weeks.”

Last year saw singer Sarah Suhairi crowned winner of the Big Stage when she topped four other finalists, Shafiq Farhain (runner-up), Afieq Shazwan (third place), Brave Kayrie (fourth) and Baby Shima (fifth place).

Vivo hopes to create a huge impact through the initiative of sponsoring such a prestigious singing competition as Big Stage 2019 will promote the singers to a broader market promoting the talents to four other countries, Brunei, Indonesia, Thailand and South Korea giving them global exposure.

The winner of Big Stage 2019 will receive a cash prize of RM100,000 worth of cash along with a trophy. Second and third place winners will receive RM50,000 and RM25,000 in cash respectively while fourth and fifth place winners will receive RM10,000 and RM5,000 respectively.

The 'Big Stage 2019' series of programs will begin broadcasting exclusively through Astro Ria (104) and Ria HD (123) channels and will also be accessible through Gempak, Astro Go and on demand services for more flexible options.

The weekly concert will be broadcasted live from the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) Auditorium for 8 weeks every Sunday, 9:00 am from 18 August 2019 onwards. Digitally, the program will go live at 8.50pm on www.bigstage.gempak.com beginning 18 August 2019.
